But the young Wentworth had no possessions worth mentioning and at Anne's house they were not impressed by his rank either. Under pressure from her family, Anne had ended the relationship.
But now that she is 27 she regrets it. She has always loved Wentworth.
When he returns from sea - now a man of wealth and reputation - Anne can only watch as every unmarried young woman in the area throws herself at his feet. Has he forgotten his former love?
