The postman always rings twice

The sign at the roadside restaurant says 'Man wanted'. One look at voluptuous, radiant Cora, the restaurant owner's much younger wife, and adventurer Frank Chambers realizes there's more to the job offer.

Based on James M. Cain's novel of the same name (Double Indemnity, Mildred Pierce), this not-to-be-missed film noir classic combines the glamor of the big studios with Cain's hard-hitting account of an indomitable but murderous passion. John Garfield and Lana Turner play the roles of their lives as secret lovers Frank and Cora. After an initial unsuccessful assassination attempt on Cora's husband, the lovers finally succeed in their devilish scheme. However, during the ensuing trial, their love turns into mutual betrayal. And yet they go free ... towards their inevitable demise, because, as the metaphorical title implies, an accident never comes alone.
