Decades after her heyday, it is still unlikely how great the talent of British singer / songwriter Kate Bush was when she entered the music world in the late 1970s, barely outgrown her teenage years. Her dreamy and playful songs, just like her thin voice, could not be compared to anything and today still seem original and timeless. In addition, she wanted to dance and make theater shows of her performances, but this did not pass the test of time as well, as is also apparent from this Christmas special from 1979. With a lot of pantomime and jazz ballet we see Bush with beard (ahead of her time), as a murderous bride, bored housewife (husband Peter Gabriel), Egyptian dancer and she pleases her male fans as a sexy mime performer in a translucent white catsuit. Despite all this entertaining craziness, she makes the most impression as herself behind her grand piano, in passionate performances of December Will Be Magic Again and The Man With The Child In His Eyes, among others.
